Suspected thugs attacked journalists and other people at an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Kano State on Saturday, damaging a Radio Nigeria Pyramid FM vehicle.
The incident occurred shortly after an APC-related political gathering at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
Reports said the attackers targeted journalists who were leaving the venue after covering the event. They allegedly used machetes and knives to attack the Radio Nigeria vehicle, smashing its windows and damaging parts of the bus.
Five journalists were reportedly affected in the incident.
They were Shafiu Abdullahi Panshekara, Abdulmajid Habib Isa Tukuntawa, Yakubu Abubakar Gwagwarwa and Ibrahim Hussaini of Radio Nigeria, Pyramid FM Kano, as well as Abdulbaki Ali Ahmed Sharifai of Guarantee Radio.
Other occupants of the Radio Nigeria vehicle included the orderly to the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Mariya Mahmud Bunkure; personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS); and the political adviser to former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
According to reports, the attackers continued hitting the vehicle despite the presence of journalists and security personnel inside.
The incident reportedly caused fear and confusion among the occupants as they returned from the political event.
