Operatives of the Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have rescued two children allegedly abandoned by their parents.
The children, aged one and two years respectively, were said to have been left at an uncompleted building in Wuro Hausa in Yola South Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Nyako Amidu Baba, who disclosed this during a press briefing with journalists in Yola, said the children were discovered crying in the middle of the night after they were reportedly brought into the building and left there alone.
According to Baba, a concerned resident who observed the situation raised the alarm, prompting NSCDC operatives to swing into action and rescue the children.
Nyako said the children have been taken into protective custody while efforts continue to locate their parents.
He added that the state NSCDC commandant, Idris Bande, has directed officers to intensify efforts to trace the parents and ensure their safe reunification.
