2027: Lagos assembly spokesperson secures APC ticket

The spokesperson of the Lagos State House of Assembly and Chairman of its Committee on Information, Stephen Ogundipe, has secured the All Progressives Congress ticket to seek a second term at the 2027 elections for Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I.

He polled 11,939 votes out of 15,030 votes cast, according to the result sheet sighted by The PUNCH on Thursday.

Ogundipe defeated former Education Secretary, Mayowa Alakija, who scored 3,086 votes in the contest.

The collation officer, AbdulRasaq Omolaja, formally declared Ogundipe as the party’s flag bearer after results from all five wards were collated.

Party officials, stakeholders and supporters were present during the exercise, which was conducted at the Legislative Hall under what APC leaders described as a peaceful atmosphere.

Following the announcement, supporters of the lawmaker celebrated his victory, describing it as a reflection of strong grassroots support and his performance in office.

Party leaders also used the moment to call for unity among members, urging all aspirants and their supporters to work together ahead of the general elections.

In his remarks after being declared winner, Ogundipe thanked party leaders, delegates, youth groups and women associations for their support during the process.

He also acknowledged his opponent and other aspirants, saying their participation helped strengthen internal democracy within the party.

“Now that the primary election is over, this is the time for unity, reconciliation, and consolidation as we prepare for the general election ahead,” he said.

Ogundipe stressed that collective success remained more important than individual ambition, urging APC members in Oshodi-Isolo to rally behind the party’s candidate and leadership.

He commended Alakija for what he described as a competitive and orderly contest, saying it reflected political maturity within the party structure.

The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to continued service, pledging inclusive representation and sustained development for residents of the constituency if re-elected.
